Specially formulated Nylon 66 by the addition of controlled quantities of Molybddenum Disulphide, shows greatly improved self lubricating properties against unfilled Nylon 66. Nylatron GS sliding against steel would show between 0.25 and 0.30 coefficient of friction as oppposed to 0.30 – 0.40 for unfilled Nylon 66. Maximum working temperature is between 95 C and 100 C compared with 85 C to 90 C for Nylon 66.
ADDITIONAL GRADES OF NYLATRON CAST MATERIALS
GSM – Partly cross linked Nylon 6 modified by controlled levels os MOS2. This gives it excellent wear resistance and low friction characteristics.
MC901 – Available in larger sections than GS, MC901 is blue in colour and is a heat stabilised Nylon made using a similar process as GSM
NSM – Is a proprietary bearing material. It is a compound of Nylon and solid lubricant additives possessing superior wear resistance in unlubricated applications. NSM will operate in severe conditions of bearing load and speed and has a much lower cofficient of friction than other Nylon compositions.
